CHICAGO -- Although he had Byron Buxton lead off Sundays season finale, Twins manager Paul Molitor said beforehand he doesnt envision the talented rookie as a top-of-the-lineup hitter just yet. Josh Bellamy Jersey .Molitor may need to reconsider.Buxton hit the games first pitch for an inside-the-park home run and Minnesota beat Chris Sale and the White Sox 6-3 in manager Robin Venturas final game with Chicago.According to MLBs Statcast, it took Buxton just 14.05 seconds to circle the bases, the fastest since it began tracking in 2015.Home to home, youre not going to see many guys do that time, Molitor said. If baseball was five bases, he probably would have been safe, too. He was gone. The speedy Buxton drilled Sales 93 mph fastball to center field, where Leury Garcia got turned around in pursuit. It landed over his head and bounced against the wall as Garcia fell awkwardly. Garcia complained of a sore hip and left an inning later.Out the box I just took off hard, Buxton said. I didnt know what would happen. Between first and second I saw he didnt catch it and said, `This is going to be interesting.Buxton, formerly the top prospect in baseball, hit .287 with eight homers and 22 RBI in 29 games after rejoining Minnesota on Sept. 1. It was a pivotal turnaround for the potential five-tool talent after batting .193 with minimal power prior to September.Miguel Sano added a three-run homer off Sale (17-10), who allowed five runs and six hits over five innings.Ventura said after the game that leaving was a personal decision. He was in the last year of his contract. The White Sox (78-84) finished their fourth straight losing season.I just feel its the right time, Ventura said. Its more of a personal decision than anything. I love being here. The organization means a lot to me. You can go as hard as you can and, really, the only thing you know is how you conduct your business and how you treat people. Im good with that.Jose Berrios (3-7) allowed one run and four hits in five innings. The Twins (59-103) closed with two straight wins after setting a team record for most losses since the franchise began play in Minnesota in 1961.Brandon Kintzler got the final three outs for his 17th save in 20 tries.Amid speculation Sale could be dealt in the offseason to start a rebuilding effort, the lefty got off to a bad start. After Sanos 25th homer in the third, Sale got out of further trouble and retired his final seven batters. He struck out six to leave him with 233 and a 3.34 ERA.Chicagos Jose Abreu singled to left in the third to become the seventh player to collect 100 RBI in each of his first three seasons in the majors.VENTURA OUT, WHOS NEXT?The Chicago Sun-Times reported Saturday that bench coach and former Cubs manager Rick Renteria will likely take over, but the team did not immediately announce a replacement. White Sox general manager Rick Hahn is scheduled to address reporters Monday.I think hes got a lot of qualities that Robin has. Maybe a little more vocal, outfielder Adam Eaton said of Renteria. He definitely will get his point across a little more, vocally.Ventura went 375-435 in five seasons with the White Sox. After an 85-77 debut in 2012 that wasnt good enough for the playoffs, Ventura suffered through four consecutive losing seasons.NO DOZIERTwins second baseman Brian Doziers season ended two home runs shy of a record and one RBI short of 100.Dozier sat out after exiting Saturdays game with right oblique soreness. If we were play for anything, Id be out there, Dozier said. But it would be dumb for me to go out there today.Dozier hit 40 of his 42 homers while playing second, two shy of the major league record at the position shared by the Braves Davey Johnson and the Cardinals Rogers Hornsby.UGLY YEARMolitor summed up the season as disappointing and surprised to have it blow up as quickly as it did.HITS & MISSESWhite Sox 3B Todd Frazier went 1 for 4 without an RBI to finish with 98. Frazier hit a career-best 40 homers, but batted only .225.UP NEXTTwins: The 2017 season opener is April 3 at home against Kansas City.White Sox: Will host Detroit on April 3 to open next season. Gale Sayers Jersey . Listen to the game live on TSN Radio 1050 at 7pm et. The Raptors traded Rudy Gay, Quincy Acy and Aaron Gray to the Sacramento Kings on Monday, in exchange for Greivis Vasquez, John Salmons, Patrick Patterson and Chuck Hayes. Elite Bears Jerseys .com) - Manchester City midfielder David Silva is expected to miss the next four weeks because of a calf problem. http:///...ohnthan-banks-jersey . But by the time the game started, the Toronto Raptors forward felt even worse. And, for three quarters, it showed as Gay shot a woeful three-for-13 from the field. Game shows? Santa Claus? Cops? Rocky?! Only one kind of moment in college football can cast such a wide net of props or visitors ... and emotions. That, of course, is when walk-ons are given scholarships.Fortunately for those of us who arent in the team meeting rooms when scholarships get issued, social media has helped turn these awards into something of an annual event every August during camps across the country. Once again, this year did not disappoint. No one is better at creating elaborate scholarship reveals than P.J. Fleck and Western Michigan, which is basically the Alabama of walk-on surprises, but there were plenty of other chilling moments across the country.Today, we present to you the ultimate power rankings of walk-ons earning scholarships.10. Chris Finke, Notre Dame, 2016 Notre Dames WOPU Nation is no laughing matter. From Chris Salvi to Joe Schmidt, no shortage of contributors started their college careers as members of the Irishs Walk-On Players Union. This month, cornerback and WOPU general Jesse Bongiovi -- yes, the son of that Bongiovi -- had a few words about a soon-to-be-former compadre after practice. Coach Brian Kelly took it from there, announcing that Finke, a redshirt freshman receiver, would be put on scholarship. The player reactions, as always, are the best part.9. Gabe Ovgard, Oregon State, 2016 Ovgard, a scout-team receiver-turned-starting safety last season, was one of the Beavers feel-good stories. To honor Ovgards work, coach Gary Andersen gathered players before a winter workout and had them pick prizes out of a hat for their teammates. The final prize, of course, was a surprise full-ride for Ovgard. (Ovgard medically retired from football this month, saying he had suffered four concussions in the past year.)8. Clark Eyers, Ford Howell and Josh Taylor, NC State, 2016 Coach Dave Doeren has been a huge champion of walk-ons during his time with the Wolfpack, giving out 13 scholarships to walk-ons since his arrival in 2013. Doeren went the surprise route this time, putting on a comedy bit in a team meeting that compared NC State players and coaches to their celebrity lookalikes. You know how this one ends.7. Grant DePalma, Western Michigan, 2014 It says something about WMU that the use of Santa Claus to issue a scholarship isnt even one of the Broncos most creative ways of surprising walk-ons. Still, the presence of St. Nick in a team meeting before a bowl game was certainly a special moment for DePalma, who received the most-expensive Christmas gift of his life: a full ride.6. Danny Doyle, Duke, 2016 Credit coach David Cutcliffe for having a few tricks up his sleeve, as the 61-year-oold Duke coach shocked Doyle, a defensive end, by having Doyles parents call during a postspring meeting and deliver him the news. Prince Amukamara Jersey. Its nice to see parents be a part of moments like these, too, since theyre the ones who often foot the college bill for their kids.5. Josh Anderson, Notre Dame, 2015 Notre Dame checks in on this list twice, thanks to Brian Kellys creativity. The Irish were revealing their one-off Shamrock Series uniforms, and they granted Anderson the honor of modeling them for his teammates. As if that moment wasnt exciting enough for a group of college kids, Kelly then announced that Anderson, a running back, was a model student-athlete at Notre Dame, and that hed be going on scholarship because of it.4. Kyle Seger, Ball State, 2016 Who doesnt love game shows? First-year Ball State coach Mike Neu decided to put a local spin on the game, having player personnel director Tilmon Clark dress up as a host for The Cardinal Is Right. Clark calls players up individually to guess what is on the screen behind them, with the help from their position groups. When Seger finally gets called and his answer pops up, the entire team storms the stage. Hilarious and chilling, all at once.3. Trevor Sweeney, Western Michigan, 2015 An onside kick? With a note wrapped around the football? So much planning had to go into this WMU surprise, and even then, so much had to go exactly right: The kick, the recovery, the teammates keeping their straight faces for so long. In the end, we get Sweeney being lifted by fellow players as he reads a letter from coach P.J. Fleck. Amazing.2. Daniel Maynes and Rob OConnor, UMass 2012 Cops interrupted a team meeting and said they had documents with Maynes and OConnors names on them. The concerned looks on the players faces -- and on coach Charley Molnars, who was in on the act -- were priceless. Credit Molnar and UMass for being forward-thinking here, as this stunt came in 2012, way before awarding scholarships became a fashionable moment to film and post.1. Kasey Carson, Western Michigan, 2016 Its not enough that the 35-year-old Fleck comes out in full uniform here. Or that he challenges a player to the Oklahoma drill, with a potential night off as the winning prize. Or that the player, Carson, wins. Fleck then directs the team to the videoboard, where Rocky himself, Sylvester Stallone, appears with former WMU letterman Alec Gores to tell Carson he has a scholarship. There may be some boat-rowing -- and drinking -- involved at the end, too. Incredible.
